OK, finally here is the dreaded "About Me" page. I have never written one so I ask for some indulgence please. I'm just a regular guy who is 46 and had diabetes since I was 15 months old. I hope to provide some insights to others who may have diabetes or are just curious about the disease in general.

The Early Years :

I remember vaguely as a child having to test my urine with "Clinitest". For those of you who do not know or remember, Clinitest was a tablet that was dropped into a urine sample to indicate blood glucose levels. I do not believe it is used as a current method for testing blood glucose.

Then one of my parents would pull up the syringe and give me the shot. Let me tell you, the gauge or thickness of the needle was not like it is now......I felt like I was getting penicillin shots every day.

Fast forward to Adult Life :

Throughout my life, I have had ups and downs concerning this disease. From Ketoacidosis to Diabetic Shock, I've probably gone through it at least once. Luckily, I have a good constitution so I am still around to tell you about it. Hopefully, you will find some interesting information, tips and recommendations on this site that will help you, or someone you love with diabetes.

Now that I've reached a balance in my life with my disease and everything associated with it, I can communicate now about some of the things I think about and am concerned about with this disease.

What inspired me
to create this site :

I was inspired to create this site because it is my hope that someone else may be saved from some of the "drama" that goes along with diabetes and from some of the "drama" I have experienced.

The two primary tools that I use to help control my diabetes are the Animas 2020 insulin pump, and the "One Touch" Ultra smart blood glucose tester. I like both as they are basically foolproof, and both offer unique features that make them each pretty easy to use.

Finally, if there is something you would like to see on this site, please let me know. I will create a form directly for you to use to contact me with your suggestions.

Thank you for visiting Your-Healthy-Diabetic-Life. I really appreciate you stopping by!

Regards and good diabetic health,

Michael
